Sawyer Carroll Selected To Northwest League All-Star Squad

Former Kelowna Falcons All-Star and University of Kentucky All-American Sawyer Carroll was named to the Northwest League 2008 All-Star Team. Carroll, a 6'4", 215 lb. left-handed hitting outfielder, hit .299 with 8 HRS and 39 RBI in 46 games for Eugene. Late in the season the Padres sent Carroll to the Fort Wayne Wizards of the Midwest League, where he hit .219 in 18 games. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 3rd round of the June, 2008 draft. Carroll played for Kelowna in 2006.

New Heights Reached In Attendance

WCCBL attendance grew by 30% during the 2008 season compared to 2007. Bend and Wenatchee led the way, with the Elks averaging 1,365 per game and the AppleSox drawing an average of 1,134 per contest. Attendance has grown in each of the WCCBL's four seasons. Click on "League News" for the details.

2008 WCCBL Honors Announced

Bend outfielder Drew Heid of Gonzaga was named WCCBL MVP as voted on by team coaches and general managers. League champion Corvallis swept the other awards. Click here for more details.

All-WCCBL Teams Named

The 2008 All-WCCBL Teams were announced Thursday, August 21 by WCCBL president Ken Wilson.

Corvallis Knights Capture 2008 WCCBL Crown

Founded in 1990 and winner of the 2004 NBC World Series as the Aloha Knights, the Corvallis Knights are 2008 WCCBL Championss. The Knights swept two-time WCCBL Champion Wenatchee in the best-of-three series beating the AppleSox 6-4 in 11 innings in Wenatchee and 4-1 at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.

The Knights competed in the 2007 Championship Series, only to lose to the Moses Lake Pirates. They finished this season with an amazing 35-12 mark. Rookie coach Brooke Knight accepted the championship trophy from WCCBL President Ken Wilson.

Not only did the Knights win it all in 2008, but in their second season in Corvallis they saw their attendance increase by 41% to a total of 17,929.
