Elks finalize coaching staff with the hiring of Joe Dominiak
Joe will bring significant experience to the dugout and will assist head coach Sean Kinney manage a very deep Bend Elk roster made up of primarily Div 1 athletes.
Sean Kinney returns for his 3rd season. Sean has taken the Elks to the post season in his first 2 years at the helm in 2010 and 2011. Kinney played for the Elks 2002-2004 while roaming the outfield with Jacoby Ellsbury. After graduating from Whitman College, Sean coached the Elks split squad team for 2 seasons and later was an Elks assistant for another 2 years. Sean's longevity in the Elks organization as a player, assistant and head coach reflects the organizations focus on promoting from within whenever possible. 4 Elks coaches have gone on to become head coaches at the collegiate level. Donny Harrel (Seattle University), Casey Powell ( Whitman College), Nathan Pratt (Chemeketa Community College), and Dean Stiles (Lane Community College).
Also on staff for his 5th summer coaching is Johnny Hirko. Hirko pitched 3 years for the Elks (2005-07) then in 2008 and 09 coached the Elks split squad team.
The past 2 seasons he has been working under coach Kinney with the pitching staff.
The Elks split squad team will once again be coached by Demetre Kokoris, a former University of Oregon graduate assistant under George Horton and now pitching coach at Lane. He will be joined by Ryan Jordan, who played for the Elks in 2006 and is in his 2nd season coaching the split squad team.
