Bend Elks Catch Fire Midseason, Riding Momentum into Walla Walla Series

The Bend Elks are heating up at the right time.

Winners of five of their last six games, the Elks have found their rhythm on both sides of the ball and are quickly becoming one of the hottest teams in the West Coast League. As they roll into their series against the Walla Walla Sweets, Bend is not only chasing its fourth straight victory, but also continuing a surge that’s put the rest of the league on notice.

One of the clearest signs of the Elks’ turnaround has been their offensive production. Bend has scored five or more runs in nine of their last ten games, showcasing a lineup that’s not just powerful, but remarkably consistent.

From top to bottom, the Elks’ order has been delivering. Whether it's timely hitting with runners in scoring position or explosive first-inning starts, the team is finding ways to generate early momentum and keep pressure on opposing pitching.

Makoa Sniffen (Saint Mary’s College of California) in particular has been delivering, currently leading the team in RBI with 18 and 4th in the league in hard hit rate (40.7%). Since stepping foot in Bend, Sniffen hasn’t missed the starting lineup.

While the offense has been clicking, Bend’s pitching staff has done its part to back them up. Starters are going deeper into games, the bullpen has been sharp, and defensive miscues have been limited—a formula that's helping Bend close out tight contests and pull away in blowouts.

The Elks now face the Walla Walla Sweets in what could be a statement series starting tonight. Another strong showing would not only extend their winning streak to four games, but also solidify their rising position in the South Division standings.

With the team firing on all cylinders, there's a growing sense that this stretch could be the spark the Elks need to make a serious second-half run beginning on July 1 at Vince Genna Stadium.
