Joey Wong

Head Coach

Joey Wong is currently a volunteer assistant coach for Seattle University Baseball. He has previously assistant coached for two years at Oregon State, for the Bend Elks in 2021, and as the Bend Elks head coach in 2022.. Joey is an Oregon State Baseball and Bend Elks alumni from 2006, as well as a former professional middle infielder.

Wong played for Oregon State from 2007-2009, helping guide the Beavers to its second of two consecutive national championships in 2007. The Salem, Oregon native is well known for turning an exceptional double play in the College World Series against Cal State Fullerton. In his career at OSU, Wong played in 175 games, batting .262 with 20 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 80 RBI.

Wong was drafted in 2009 in the 24th round by the Colorado Rockies, reaching as high as Triple-A with Albuquerque in 2015 and 2016, as well as Tacoma in 2017 and Las Vegas in 2018. He played in over 800 games professionally in the Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners, and New York Mets organizations.

Danny Sales

Pitching Coach

Danny Sales will be back with the Bend Elks for the second time this summer! Sales played college baseball at Mount Hood CC from 2004-2006 and also played summer collegiate baseball with the Kansas City Greys (M.I.N.K. League) and with the Niagara Power (NYCBL). Upon graduation, Sales participated in spring training camps with a couple of independent league teams before retiring.

Upon his return to the state of Oregon in 2015, he began his coaching career where he has coached high school baseball and American Legion baseball. He is currently the Head Baseball Coach at South Eugene High School, and was named the 2017 Southwest Conference (OSAA 6A) Coach of the Year. He was the head coach the Willamette Valley Titans American Legion team in 2017, previously coaching with the South Eugene Axe. Sales has also coached for summer college team Medford Rogues.

 
 
 

Tyler Hollow

Assistant Coach

The Bend Elks are excited to announce Tyler Hollow to the Bend Elks coaching staff. Tyler is currently an assistant coach at Iowa Western Baseball. Hollow will assist with the infielders and hitters and design weight room programs for the Iowa Western pitching staff. 

Hollow played at Utah Tech University as a middle infielder, from 2018-2022, where he was named with All-Conference/All-Region honors twice. After graduating with a B.S. in Exercise Science in 2022, Hollow left his mark at UT finishing his career amongst the top of the record books in games played, games started, hits, doubles, and batting average.

Hollow grew up in Boise, Idaho, and attended Rocky Mountain High School.
